NCRRL League Playoff Rules
(& Summary of Match Ups)

Playoffs will be in a Round Robin Format beginning 18 Feb, 2012.

The playoff schedule is on the normal NCRRL Schedule.
The 1st half Standings were based on an 8 game schedule used to determine the competitiveness of all division teams. The Standings were reset at the November re-seeding meeting because in many divisions teams move (up or down). The 2nd half was alsoa 8 game schedule ending Sunday, 12 Feb, 2012.

To be consistant for all teams, the 2nd half Standings as of Games reported by the evening of 12 Feb 2012, will be used to create the match-ups for the Playoffs.
The absolute drop dead date to play a game that will count is 12 Feb. All games must be reported as soon as possible or they will not count towards Playoff Match Ups
.  Rescheduled games may be played after 12 Feb, but be aware that they will not count towards the standings to set the playoff schedule nor for advancement as a result of a tied game in the playoffs..

It is CRITICAL that every coach receive a copy of this as it contains important information for the Playoffs:

1.     Games end at the expiration of the game score clock or the 50 minute arena clock (ie. the zamboni buzzer).

3.     There will be a ONE MINUTE WARM UP put up on the clock for every playoff game. This is to get the games going on time !!!!!

4.     Each team is allowed ONE thirty second timeout per game.

5.     We expect every effort to be made to keep the games moving. No coach will be allowed to deliberately slow down the game by questioning the referees, adjusting goalie equipment , etc.

6.     Playoff Game Scores on the final Weekend MUST be reported FROM THE ARENA IMMEDIATELY after they are played, directly to the league statistician at 747-8579, and by the Game Score Reporting system on the NCRRL Website on the day of the game. On the final weekedn of Playoffs they must be reported on the online system within two hours.

7.     Playoffs are in a round robin Format.

All teams will be placed in a round robin division. Top 2 teams will advance to the final. For these divisions - 2 pts for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 pts for a loss in each game. "ORA tie breaking rules" will apply if ties occur in the standings at the end of the mini round robin.

8.     Notice regarding call ups and player substitutions for play offs:

All call ups and player substitutions for play off games must be approved by the division convenor. Conveners are only authorized to approve call ups that follow league call up rules and comply with the call up grid found on the NCRRL web site. Special requests for approval to call up players from teams that are not approved on the grid must be sent in writing to the convener and the convener must consult the league executive for approval. Last minute requests for exemption to the call up rules will not be approved; requests must be made a minimum of 24 hours before the game.

Note that if the division convener cannot be contacted, any other division convener may be used. Please see the contact list on the site at:

Also note that the three game limit for players to be called up has been lifted for the play offs.

Sportsmanship

Because tie breakers for the playoffs is limited to a 7 goal spread, the Sportsmanship rule has been lifted for the playoffs. This is to allow the teams to get "7 plus a bit of safety margin", which would probably be around a 9 goal differential. There has already been a score reported of 15 to 2, almost double the normal limit. Please coaches, lifting of the rule does not mean sportsmanship is abandoned for the playoffs.

9.     The League Championship Day will be announced when known.   The Schedule will be linked here.

Good luck to all teams,
